Misplaced Trust
Wow what a busy Summer so far. I did not mean to neglect this blog this long.
This Summer I have been rather taken aback by the fear in everyone. Perhaps people have always been this fearful and I did not notice. I'm not sure if I have really risen above the level of fear most people have or if I am just more aware of my fears and more aware of others fears as well?
The most common fears this Summer seems to be who will lead the US in January 2017. I don't care much for politics but its hard not to when everyone talks about it.
Why is this such a big deal? People fear their guns are going to be taken away or terrorist will attack us. And it is important that the right person lead us so we are safe with these matters. And these are legitimate fears. I can't say that I haven't considered what to do in the event of a terrorist attack in my own city. It seems possible anywhere you go these days.
However I believe the reason you should rest easy is because of Jesus. If you are fearful of these things it's because you have misplaced your trust of him or you have never trusted him in the first place. I think of the story of the Disciples in the boat in Mark 4 where they are fearing for their lives. And they call on Jesus to help them. We are in a storm and we are calling on politicians and our strengths to hopefully rescue us. Rather call on the name of Jesus to calm your storm. He alone will lead you through.
